Spring awakes in Ludwigshafen...

April has a mind of its own.

Exhibitors and visitors experienced almost perfect weather at the VETERAMA Car + Motorbike Weekend (13-15 April, 2012). On the weekend for two-wheelers (20-22 April), however, typical April weather prevailed.

During the first weekend, the Show Arena presented a fine selection of cars such as a Mercedes Benz SSK, Ferrari GTO in classic red and a Porsche 914. Those who wanted to go back to the future only had to get in the DeLorean, while a Bond Bug 700 E was the absolute crowd- puller.

The market place presented a varied choice of newcomers’ vehicles at affordable prices. The numerous spare parts stalls had everything on offer for stocking up for the spring. Complete vehicles as well as rare parts soon changed hands, which only goes to prove that the VETERAMA succeeds every year in bringing the right kinds of people together. Our exhibitors profited from this, while the visitors left the VETERAMA satisfied with their visit.

Especially delighted was the veteran car fan who was able to acquire an original brass carburettor for his 1903 Peugeot for 70 euros.

At the two-wheeler VETERAMA on the second weekend, the large selection of belt-driven vintage machines in particular caught the eye. One dealer, for example, was offering two motorbikes from the early 1920s. What was special here was the fact that it was a pair designed for ‘him and her’. A negotiating price of 3,500 euros was set for the two machines, which were also manufactured by Peugeot. Practically every two-wheel conveyance to be found on the road during the 70s, 80s and 90swas on offer here for newcomers.

Among the scooters, it was almost as if “Vespamania” had broken out. Never before had so many ‘wasps’ turned up at the market.

For fans of customised bikes there was a special exhibition which almost had a “chromosexual” theme.

And so once again we were able to look back upon two very eventful weekends with much trading, buying and exchanging, and above all communication.
